Stump Removal in Stratford, ON
Complete stump and root-ball extraction when grinding isn't enough.
When a stump sits in the way of a foundation, fence post, or new planting bed — or you need the entire root ball gone — we perform full extraction. We grind the stump, then pull or cut out the major root plate so nothing remains underground.
Benefits of stump removal
Nothing left behind
The whole stump and main root plate come out — no hidden wood to rot or resprout later.
Build-ready ground
Ideal before pouring footings, setting posts, or installing hardscaping over the spot.
Pest prevention
Removing the full root ball eliminates a food source for carpenter ants and termites.
Clear access
We assess access first and quote honestly — extraction needs more room than grinding.
How it works
A simple, transparent process from first call to a clean, stump-free yard.
Site assessment
We check access, utilities, and what's above and below the stump before quoting.
Grind & extract
We grind the stump, then excavate and remove the main root plate.
Backfill & grade
The void is backfilled and graded so the ground is level and ready to use.

Stump Removal FAQs
What's the difference between grinding and removal?+
Grinding shreds the stump below grade and leaves roots to decompose. Removal takes out the stump and main root ball entirely — more work, needed only when the spot must be fully clear.
Will removal damage my lawn?+
It's more invasive than grinding. We protect surrounding turf where possible and backfill the hole, but expect some disturbance in the immediate area.
Do I need removal or just grinding?+
Most homeowners only need grinding. Choose removal if you're building, fencing, or planting a deep-rooted tree in the same spot.
